About Your Brow Lift or Forehead Lift Procedure
A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes.
Indications
The brow lift procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows across the forehead that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.
Procedure
In a brow lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. Your surgeon may employ a conventional surgical technique in which the incision is hidden just behind the hairline. A brow lift may also be performed with the use of an endoscope, a viewing instrument that allows the procedure to be performed with minimal incisions. Both techniques yield similar results – smoother forehead skin and a more youthful appearance. The procedure is usually performed under a general or neuroleptic anesthesia and is done on an out-patient basis.
After Surgery
Some discomfort, swelling and bruising are normal. Your surgeon will prescribe medication for post-operative pain. Avoid vigorous activity, bending your head, sleeping on a flat surface, emotional upsets and alcohol. If there are stitches they will be removed in a few days. You may gradually return to your normal activities. Please refer to your doctor’s post-operative instructions.
Important Notes:
Your surgery may take between one to two hours. - Expect a recovery period of 14 days.
- Please arrange to have someone pick you up from our surgical centre following surgery.
- Avoid vigorous activity post-operatively.
